- --==-- About Detour --==--
-
- Detour is a quick-and-dirty Command 50 application to route around
- non-working Command 50 applications on a Red Ryder Host board. It should
- work with any version of Host -- 1.4 or 2.0.
-
- I created Detour when a beta version of Host 2.0 introduced a new
- UserLog file format which made Dungeons and Archie temporarily
- unworkable. While I waited for them to be updated to compatibility with
- the new Host, I renamed copies of Detour to “Dungeons” and “Archie” to
- bridge around them without modifying all my menus.
-
- Detour reads the LaunchRRH file and prints a sysop-editable "Sorry --
- this feature is temporarily disabled" message to the screen and, if the
- call is non-local, to the modem at the current caller’s baud rate. It
- then returns control to Host.
-
- To run Detour, you need to modify three STR resources with ResEdit:
-
- • STR 300 contains the path to your Host application.
- • STR 301 contains the name of your Host application.
- • STR 302 contains the text of the message to print. This message
- should be no longer than 80 characters (79 to be safe) so it will print
- in one screen line.
-
- When you have done this, remove the application you want to route around
- and replace it with a copy of Detour with the same name as the
- application it’s replacing.
-
- Detour 1.0 is a *free* program written in ZBasic. If you like it, check
- out Archie, the Shareware “host helper” program.
